Writing in Health/Physical Education

Expectations: Daily opportunities for writing in Health classes.

  1. Interviews of health professionals and patients and a research report summarizing their findings.
  2. Scripts for a commercial written incorporating a strategy to depict a positive message to the youth, country, etc. on a related health issue.
  3. Test/Homework/Do Now Questions – answers written in complete sentences.
  4. Vocabulary development-using the dictionary and incorporating words into sentences.
  5. Written questions created by students used on tests.
  6. Written response to Instructional Videos and current movies on topics such as Drug Use and Abuse and Mental Health.
  7. Written response to Internet research on current health issues and therapeutic remedies.
  8. Writing homework responses on the board, current events, group work with written responses, and research articles.

Expectations: Daily opportunities for students to respond in writing in Physical Education:

  1. Research projects-weight training-topics include health, fitness, and diet. Summarizing the article and its practicality.
  2. Fitness class-educational information on how to become healthy.
  3. Journals in medically excused, weight training and yoga.
  4. Progress charts and written homework
  5. Swimming-written analysis of skills used for different strokes.
  6. Vocabulary development in Survey class—writing sentences to demonstrate understanding.
  7. Written self-evaluation of skills.
  8. Written skills analysis and testing in selective classes.
  9. Written test in the life guarding class.
