Fort Hamilton Community,
Reopening at Fort Hamilton HS this past week was positive and productive with improved flow each day as students became accustomed to safety routines and movement around the building. Listen to 2 students share their feelings.
Everyone did a great job transitioning to the building, and we need daily cooperation to maintain masks over mouth and nose, and to allow 3 feet social distancing when in class, offices, or lunch. The social distancing is critical during lunch when masks are off while eating. Whether in the cafeteria or auditorium, we will continue to expect students to keep masks on except when eating 3 feet apart. Masks must be worn all other times and students must be courteous to discard their trash.
While life resumes at Fort Hamilton, we have our first positive covid case requiring quarantine for unvaccinated community members. A call went to all families on 9/17/21 whose child was exposed to the positive covid case. Any unvaccinated students and staff must quarantine, and there will be a letter from DOE Test and Trace with an exact date of return. Families will receive the letter via email on record from the DOE in next few days. Students on quarantine will participate remotely with work from teachers until they return to school.
Vaccinated students do not need to quarantine as long as they have no symptoms. If vaccinated, proof must be uploaded to the DOE Vaccine Portal on link below. It's most important that students are on the vaccine portal, but we will confirm entry with the Excelsior Pass as secondary proof of vaccination until all students have their DOE accounts.
