reason you are eager to find out what's going to happen this next year so your healthy child and family can come back to Fort Hamilton and be part of our community I just a reminder if you can keep yourselves on mute we will have an opportunity for some Q&A at the end and just hold off on any questions in the chat for now too because I think a lot of your questions may be addressed with my presentation so I rode in the chat the purpose of the Forum is to share current information and as you all will know things are changing all the time I just got a multi-page multi multi pages today that I tried to hopefully we'll be able to provide some reassurance in our Fort Hamilton team I would rather be would rather be with this team than anybody else that I've worked in the deal we so I think you were in good hands we have a lot of challenges with our size and that just makes a lot more communication necessary and you have a very specific instructions but we are determined figure this thing out and we are doing our best for and with our community I also want to explain the need that we need to ask for an exception to the models provided by the. Very simple we are a hundred ninety percent overcapacity and we do not have enough space to have 33% of our students in the building at any one time and that is the model that is most generous in spreading out to be socially distance and also to help you understand that there's a lot that still unclear and everything is taking more time so there are few categories that I'm chunking tonight in first I want to talk about the exception we are submitting our proposal before August 14th that's the deadline talk a little bit of programming then I'll move on to safety of course all these overlap somewhat the next category is on instruction and learning and that is such an important piece but at the same time all right we don't want to have anybody sharing so okay instruction and learning and that's where some of the most significant question still are in terms of what the expectations are of teachers how many people will be in the building vs. full-time remote on our staff don't lot of those questions I'm going to try to give you information but I won't be able to answer many specifics and then the fourth category is beyond the basics all those questions about performance illusion clubs trying to address that as best we can so first and foremost if you can meet your cells everybody that won't ensure that we can all listen if you could mean deception that we are requesting is because we cannot fit into once every three days we are going to have once every five days so basically we can have 930 students each day in the building approximately 8 in some cases 10 students can be in any one classroom there's some classrooms that are a little bit smaller but he can we will adapt the total number of students in that section by the total number of students assigned in those classrooms but approximately 8 students in the average class in in our performance is there might be as many as 12 to 14 at any one time but all of that is based on room capacity and the numbers of rooms that we have across the building like I said one day a week in person and we will follow our regular 10. Day schedule so we will maintain the three sessions that we've always had it for Hamilton where students might have expiry date they might have 2 to 10 or 7 to 9 or 3 to 10 so right now we have no way to know what session your child will be on we have no way to say whether they'll be coming on Mondays with the egg or Tuesdays with the B group we're going to do our best to program students with light schedules so that we can keep cohorts together to minimize the movement during the day the one thing I learned today was that there will be no separate lunch. Four students lunch will be delivered into the classroom during an instructional. so that's new information we just got today I'll be meeting with Food Services later this week to kind of figure out how that's all going to happen but basically your child will be in the building for 7. conducting at this time all content areas are scheduled to take place in the available in person and like I said each student will have seven classes lunch will not be your schedule but that will be provided and delivered to the classroom there in at two different points of the day and they will eat during their instruction. We've actually adjusted our 10. Bell schedule to accommodate a little bit of dance time for staff to collaborate and also additional time for passing and then we have two periods of the day no. That will be a little bit longer to accommodate the lunch that's being served so again a lot of these details will be worked out but just in general your child when they're in the building or if they're at home they will have 7. 40 minutes each back-to-back with six minutes of passing in between so if I'm Blended I'm an a group I'm in the building I will probably need to move to possibly three times but otherwise I will ideally stay with the same group of students who have a similar need for the same courses and that's where my lunch will be served the 6-minute passing time built-in so we can stagger dismissal to move to the next place so the third floor might be dismissed after 4 minutes second floor might be dismissed after 5 minutes things like that so again all those details will be worth a lot of you ask about the start date and at this time there's been no schedule there's been no calendar for the school year provided if we start on the regular school year schedule for typically be September 10th It's usually the Thursday after Labor Day you know and there's a lot to accomplish between now and then but certainly have that on your calendars as the first possible date that students might come in remotely or in person and that would be again September Ends the deadline for families to opt for full-time remote is Friday August 7th I've sent out the link a couple different times in PupilPath messages it's on our website you can also call 311 a lot of you ask can you change your mind after August the answer is yes so whether you choose. Promote now or Ops to come in for a blended you will have an opportunity on a quarterly basis to change your preference and that first opportunity or change will be in November and I'm just going to pause on that because this is where Fort Hamilton is going to have a real dilemma if we have 20% of our students full-time remote we are not going to be able to reprogram the entire building in November if 10% of those families decide they want to come back so that's budgeting for the 20% one day a week so that we don't have to disrupt 4600 programs because we would have to reprogram the entire building if family has decided to come back because we are going to budget the classroom space for how many students can fit in those classes and be safe with social distancing a lot of you asked about flexibility for the day of the week at this time we chat promises we certainly always want to do our best to accommodate but I would say right now wherever your child program is that gives him or her what they need to stay on track to graduate that's what the program will be we hope that there will be a vaccine we hope that at some point we willfully resume to a normal schedule but again at this time you know it's one day a week person and obviously 5 days a week instruction as far as safety we will be adding additional entry and dismissal point to the building we will have markers both on the exterior of the building to distinguish six feet apart we will be doing random temperature checks this is all / the-gioi Health policy the deal we is fighting the PPE equipment sanitizer the floor markers and signage we also I just heard saying I've been in touch with our custodian we received for electrostatic sprayers slowly but surely getting the materials to clean the building that deep cleaning every night the most recent letter that the chancellor sent out I'm trying to read everything carefully that that I'm sharing with you that he's caring with you he indicated that there would be cleaning during the school day there will not be any custodial cleaning during the school day are there maybe replenishment of soap punishment of towels but we only have custodians on during the day we have a lot of space and no custodians will be going in and out of the classroom when one class leaves and shortly thereafter another class maybe Jen just accommodating the lunch in the classroom rather than contained in the cafeteria that alone will be adding during the school day extra duties for our custodial staff so any clean during the course of the day will be done by staff and students and making sure that we'll have time we hope we will have staff time to make sure that we know how to establish those relationships establish those citations for how do we use the community of our school be safe and then how are we as a classroom going to be safe and again we're hoping to keep as many groups together for at least the core as possible to reduce the movement as far as health goes sorry I've got so many notes from reading all the documents there is going to a high expectation that people are still checking their health before they even come to school temperature checks anything over a hundred point for he's going to put somebody in isolation room for further evaluation people should be before they come to school checking whether they're feeling okay the deal we says that they'll be launching a campaign to help educate people before I leave their home to go on to school and they will also be providing thermometers to families who need so you can check your temperatures before you walk out of the building when we're in cool the way that there might be an adjustment to people needing to quarantine would be if staff or student has been in contact with somebody with Cove in within 14 days if they themselves have tested positive in the past 14 days if they're experiencing symptoms that include the hundred plus temperature in the past 14 days or if they try internationally or from a state that is restricted within the past 14 days so any of those conditions if that is revealed within a classroom with the classroom staff and students will be quarantined for 14 days the only way to return to school and again this is the same for staff and students is if the student or staff returns with a negative test result clearance from a doctor in addition and they have had no symptoms within 24 hours without medication a lot of this detail is on the deal we side I'm trying to just kind of isolate some cheap pieces for you to consider when you're making your decision about whether to possibly stay out of the Blended learning for your child to come into the building I think I mentioned we will be doing random temperature checks at the entrance again that will be for both staff and students also house is being encouraged to be tested within 7 Days of returning the gioi is trying to facilitate priority for Dia we staff so that we can be more confident that we are not carrying virus and going to spread it and anybody who is checking temperatures will have gloves on a face mask and then a nurse ultimately will be evaluating anyone needing any of those conditions in the isolation room that we I'll be creating and of course you know those rooms that isolation room will have deep cleaning and families will need to pick up their child if they are experiencing any of those symptoms or if we have to quarantine based on one or more people if there are one or more people within 7 days or into different classrooms necessitate a complete school closed the minimum is 24 hours so if we if I got word today that school is closed Wednesday it will be closed through at least Thursday 6 p.m. Thursday night weather will remain closed or not so you know this will be really critical that everyone is tuned into PupilPath that we have your correct information email and phone number because all of this information will post it on our website that that people have PupilPath and are getting those regular messages in the phone calls that will be critical to have finally information if there's any close contact with a pub positive case automatically 14 day quarantine along with returning with the test clearance from a doctor and no symptoms within 2 4 hours I'm in AC questions coming in I'll try to get back to those when I can the the Department of Health I am the captain Trace they will become acting as far as what will happen with our closures but every person who will be quarantined the families will be contacted and given a special letter and there will also be a letter that goes identifying that we did have someone tested and we have X number of people quarantine and again if they are two or more confirm cases within 7 days or into separate rooms the entire school will be closed for a minimum of 24 hours and then and will be notified by 6 p.m. if the closure will continue beyond that 24 hours. hey so let me go back to my house at all times both on the outside as well as on the inside students and staff must be now they're going to be no exceptions outside of eating so when your child is in that one instructional class where they are getting their food delivered they will be able to remove their masks but they will still need to maintain 60 and they will need to return their masks once lunch is done you know there's there's not going to be any room for negotiation with wearing the masks and keeping that 62 so that's going to be a responsibility of every as well as every Community member has gotten a lot of questions about what happens if someone doesn't wear their mask or isn't being cooperative we're going to handle that the way we always do with anybody who is disrupt the flow of anything at Fort Hamilton Progressive discipline so the first time it will be addressed there will be a call home the second time there will be another call home with a very serious warning that any other infraction your child will become a full-time remote student not at your preference but at school Community need for safety you know there is not going to be any with wearing the mask and maintaining. 60 I think we're going to do everything we can buy staggering the passing by trying to get students in the same classroom with the state so we can minimize the con it's not going to be perfect but it certainly is not going to allow for any one or more individual to not follow the basic rules of 60 and wearing their masks as far as instruction goes you know this is where again there a lot of questions unanswered I want live instruction every day just like all just like I know students do it's still unclear remote full-time staff will be assigned versus staff we're not going to have that accommodation I am expecting and hoping your child will have a for Hamilton teacher who will provide for them both in there in person as well as their remote I do not know if that will happen there still a lot of discussions on underway and ultimately it will be determined by how many of our staff members get that accommodation and how many of our students are full-time remote so some of that information will be available to us after August 10th our plan is due on the 14th so we'll be doing our best to figure out how to do all of those pieces with staff once we have that those pieces of information but even though you have a deadline to submit your full-time remote request staff is a rolling submission so what might be not going to staff may not feel the need to have an accommodation today next week so that could be an adjusting thing that we need to cover as far as assessment right now so far the New York State Board of Regents scheduling the Regents exams in January of 2021 there has been no updates about that for the time being as I said before we are currently offering all the students in their seven . day including the Arts including PE that's where we stand today all IEP mandates and services for our English language Learners will be provided anything that is beyond that they may be in person will be remote but again those Services IP all of those things will take place remotely we will definitely have a criteria and a spectation for live instruction when your child is remote until we know what the the parameters are for teachers I don't want to project something right now but there will be an expectation so where it was very difficult to organize that in the spring very rushed excetera there will be a standard set at Fort Hamilton for what live instruction expectation there are I wish I could say that's the teacher will be in the room with eight students and your child at home will be able to tune in you know so they're all learning together in the same time in the same place that's not possible we don't have the technology the city does not have the infrastructure but we will do our best to maximize our bandwidth as well as our technology to maximize live instruction find next category beyond the basics a lot of you asked about club we certainly plan to resume clubs at nothing will be in person for a while until we're kind of into a routine so that would be something that will get to a little bit later in the fall all the ways were handling performances things like that will be adjusted as we move forward I'm actually going to get a pause and ask Miss to some specifics about instrumental class or even a dance class might look like look like in the fall High everybody hope everybody's well we'll get through this together I saw we had to borrow a Performing Arts president Britain Woodruff in the house tonight and he wrote a long question I like to question I'll speak to Britain on the side about the question but it's a good question so basically it says how will we going to provide for the audition students that want to further their careers in the Arts I think we're perfectly in alignment with this because my daughter is actually a theater major also in in New Jersey Bergen academies and she's already had auditions at all the auditions now a virtual all of them a virtual so the kids need to be prepared to provide a virtual Edition as well as alive personal Edition and hopefully we'll get back to that because nothing I hear a lot of noise but you're ready and York College auditions and professional editions require solo playing which will be ongoing the students will be playing solo whatever model we have to do if we are the Blended model and we can provide a safe way of warming we will do that otherwise so performances will be remote and they'll be handing in videos and we will be putting those videos together to make a remote performance or distance learning performance which we have examples online website theater monologues Sims memory and I'm so caught up in everything that goes in with goes into being a professional actor those things need to be home and they could be home online remotely well as well so now but the inside. Is the is the difficult challenging stuff but now if we do have the social distancing in place we can do things like that in class whether it be six or nine people depending on the I don't believe what this month will still be actually band playing or singing but with Nest Control Plus they'll be will there be snow performance opportunities as well even personal but everything that's required for College and Career especially now being together right let me see what else I can talk about a professional Partnerships are still in place so as far as any professional advice teachers can't do it because they're all Professionals in the pool but will have still the Partnerships with musical theater Development Fund Partnerships with the job report your Partnerships in American Ballet Theater American composers Orchestra and they'll be part of our our our meetings Ann Arbor chuil meeting and so will be able to get their expert opinion and master classes just like we would have if we were in person so I plan on providing rigorous instruction in the Arts and preparing the students but whatever comes after high school and they'll be ready if they work hard and I have the support of the parents that ensure that they were caught at home in good shape will be in good shape you know now I don't know if I'll get pushed back but I know from my own kids when the teachers asked those cameras to be on for the students it holds them more and accountable so I would hope that when we have a meaning to Google me or Microsoft teams that if the cameras are asked to be on we see the students there and eager and ready to learn, I know I probably went too long but I am excited to start no matter what they give us some ready thank you mister overly you're probably generated a few more questions to come your way but I just looked through the chat I can answer a few questions now before I kind of rap with a few things our platform will be Google Classroom all of our students have a Gmail Fort Hamilton High School. Org Gmail account I think miss my car has been explaining a lot of emails and it's been frustrating for us that the deal we system with all of your child's information has not migrated to our system so in order to look at you know what your child actually did in middle school we had to download that separately but we don't have the ability to get your child on two people pass so you can register for your account I will say cuz this is who is confusing if you're coming from a middle school or any school that has people pass you must create a new account with Fort Hamilton it'll stay with the other information so you'll have create a new account with PupilPath for for Hamilton you'll get a choice when you kind of scroll down for the different schools but again will send out information on our website when we know that people path accounts for our new students can be created and hopefully more information as well we wanted to do IDs this summer for new students that lives in we wanted to distribute senior collect some of the items that seniors before they go off to their phase of Life all of those requests were denied but we're going to manage to get all that stuff done when we return probably later in the fall will organize something for our seniors and hopefully they'll be able to come back we don't even have the seniors diplomas yet they did not deliver those and it's not just for Hamilton it's every across the city so those will be printed when we return and again will be offering all of that information on our website because all of our seniors won't be on to pass any more Gmail account spaces will be taken up by our new students but certainly before students begin we hope you'll have your people pass account because that's how you're going to see your program you know you'll download South you know what that schedule will be the same whether you're remote or whether you're at home want to make sure we maintain that regularity so you know when to tune in you know what the expectations are you know doing the work is going to be the most important but being present and be part of the classroom little harder remotely but that's going to be a big part of how you are your child is actually going to learn and really take advantage of everything before Hamilton has to offer a couple more things on the beyond the base item I already mentioned lunch will be delivered during instructional. In the classroom at this time there's been nothing definitive about Athletics but I do not expect that there will be false I'm at this time you know PE can take place you know if anything more rigorous is happening students need to be 12 feet apart instead of 6 feet apart but again I do not expect there the Athletics because in most all cases there is a physical interaction that won't will not be acceptable we still plan to have tutoring hopefully both person as well as remotely we will still be offering support for the college process or are rising seniors will be deeply involved in that process we have questions about transportation you know some families have their child take the yellow buses again that information will be forthcoming once we have it we do hope to organize orientation for incoming students is to make sure you have your people pass account setup as well as a tour so that your little more acclimated to the building we are also hoping to integrate social emotional learning just general tips about how to use the features of Google Classroom how to download just basic things I mean I think a lot of our students and staff learned as we went out starting in March but there is some fundamental things that we want to make sure all students are able to do so that those frustrations don't really want students are at home and can't seem to do what they need to do to get the work done and put on you know there will be senior activities but again a lot of that remains up in the air depending on the social distancing and just the timing of everything you know all like I said before all the services for students with their eye peas will be provided going to take the opportunity to turn over to mrs. Mischief Corona do you want to add anything about students with disabilities or just in general services I mean hi everyone get evening as far as services are concerned you know if if you do choose the remote option then we will arrange a remote Services as I did this spring I'm I haven't gotten guide into as far as if we'll have to do another special education remote learning plan which we had to we had to do a new you got one for your child in the spring which is basically how your child is receiving Services while during remote learning and asked about if it's any coordination about what day your child is going to school so we'll have to coordinate that but as far as I know yellow bus service will continue they might need to just rethink everything because of social distancing but you know it's kind of a a wait-and-see I mean you could optimize my information to chat if you want to speak to me on a more private note if you have different concerns but you know we're just we're going to we're going to do the best we can and I will be make sure that your child is getting sure so I'll put my information in the chat the waitlist is closed made our last offers if you were still waiting for anything on July 24th and any questions you have about enrollment must go to the enrollment office at the family Welcome Center on 89th Street you know right now students are just being sent us if you live in the zone the way you get to Fort Hamilton as you live in the zone at this point because we are no longer like I said dealing with the weightless tell a few next Epsom that apply to you and some that are just so you know what our next steps are you know what we're working on now is to ensure that students that we have the correct program quest for your Chao that we have the right level of English the right level of social studies science whatever they need for whether it's the Performing Arts or whether it's a student with disabilities or was it there an English language learner anything in between we want to make sure we have the right request before we start doing all of the breaking up into groups organizing a schedule to maintain a horse so that we can reduce movement around the building and have fewer students that will be in contact with each other we will be creating very specific guidelines dismissal and passing you know what like I said before I think we have we will get signage so be able to put arrows about which goes this way this way we've already organized assistant now we need to really get into the building put all those signs down and we'll be able to will need to train everyone will need the specific protocols that everybody is familiar with when there is a potential illness and what hap what happens with the patient will have special protocols about using the bathroom so we can maintain the social distancing there we will be working on how to integrate social emotional learning as well as how to make semis remote classroom features or just getting organized and making sure you're staying on task when you're on your own at home and mess with your full-time remote or the four days will also be establishing protocols for meetings with families for the most part our spaces where you might be meeting with a psychologist or counselor or not going to be providing social distancing so we're going to be repurposing some of our spaces to hold those meetings for iat's although most of these things will be happening remotely we are going to be submitting our reopening plan on the 14 I mention that the exception you know we will have approval from the deal we there a couple of layers of consideration but our approval should be to us no later than August 28th I mean I didn't contact the superintendent already and he's very aware of our situation with overcapacity but we've been asked not to do any programming until we actually have the approval of our program exception in again I won't have that until August 28th I mentioned that there's still no official school calendar but you should definitely have September 10th on your calendar as the first possible day for students you know I think we are all eager to really dive into what will instruction remotely look like and what will it look like in person and once we know what staff will be on remote and what beautiful beyond remote and what the guidelines are for teachers then we'll be able to really dig into that people are thinking about it but until we know how that's going to be divvied up that's a really large piece as you can imagine we do New Hope to organize and orientation for incoming 9th graders so you can get the IDS for the building we can make sure you have information about people, all those things we really hope we're going to be able to devote a few days just to our incoming students everybody will need to assess their device capacity at home if there is any question about devices at this point I encourage you to reach out to the deal we now to make sure you do have a device we do not have sufficient devices to distribute we distributed 400 devices in the spring those are going wherever the students are going and if your child is coming from a middle school with the device that will be part of the Fort Hamilton inventory but again we want to make sure everybody has a device or at least how to share a device you know we have a lot of space that we need to repurpose you know just in terms of creating space for teachers right now we have a very small space for 3 thank you teachers and you multiply that by eight distinct apartment so we need a lot of space or features to be safely as well as to be meeting and collaborating you know as well as pets for our English language Learners or students with disabilities we also will be establishing a system for students coming back with an ex an incomplete grade from charm to that will not happen during the day but that will be something above and beyond the scenes will need to catch up on you know big question Staffing and programming you know families need to complete the options for full-time remote by Friday the 7th again you can do it on the length or calling 311 and then for seniors we will distribute and collect one we have the building back open and can do so safely so we have about 15 minutes I know there a lot of questions Miss Makar I don't know if you've been paying attention to the questions but if questions that haven't been answered write your name in the chat and Miss Makar can call on you and multiple try to do our best go ahead and ask your question you want to say the name a Model Elementary School I was wondering why are not all of the students temperature on ice or a few other people working gas you said the temperature being taken was going to be Brandon why isn't every child's having their temperature taken every day when I had was personal for my daughter she's in the Joffrey Ballet program so I was just wondering are they going to have classes in school as well or is that just going to be remote content areas will be in person and remote every content area we're not excluding PE or the electives so every content that your child has on their program will be an interesting opportunity in mr. booberlee wants to answer to that Hi how are you I'm looking forward to having a child dance left Jeffrey up program amazing how they handled it remote domestic message with a BT and while the kids were remotely fancy we have to create a little space when they're in their home while we go dancing 10th grade yes I was just wondering like was that how it's going to continue like it'll probably if she's in school on that day which she have Joffrey classes that thing in the building and then the other days with the remote days would be like we did in the spring and then instruction will be back with mr. car and Miss Lazard and she'll be happy just like we all worlds in response to your question about why all temperatures being taken on a daily basis I mean I'm pulling that directly from the deal we Health policy that they the expectation is that random temperatures will be taken that it's not every temperature but when but again there could be an adjustment to that policy that that's what the policy says at this time next question misma car from KC Valero so you can meet then ask your question the day of the week that are childish scheduled is that a day that's rotating or would that be assigned specifically so if the child comes in on Tuesday they're always in person on Tuesday or is that on a rotating basis to accommodate days off it will be on a rotating basis so that every five school days your child will be one day in the building so it'll just be every 5 days or less it'll be the same day of the week but there are what holiday is in another city could be it'll be static for all the days and weeks that don't get disrupted by a holiday thank you you're welcome Inn Express menu Lena radosz Elena the schedule for September kill the day before classes because we won't have the ability to start programming and chill really August 29th I would say August 31st because when you no more I just myself into other people are on staff for the summer mr. growney is one of four staff members who are working the summer yes we're holding down the fort literally but it will be available on people pass on the day before classes begin if it's if we're able to make it more available we certainly will but we know we're going to be it's going to be a tight timetable for us to organize those so sketch depending on how many teachers are remote things like that will not have a chance to pick up a session or will they know there's no opportunity to do that there ever is I'm just because we are so tight in the building with being 190% of her capacity a change for one student potentially as a change for other students and we really try to not disrupt the anybody the important thing is you have what you need and the time of day might be preferred but it's not an easy so that is our Armada at Fort Hamilton and you know it is workout program one year but then they get everything they want you know in the right place the next year but I'll be honest with you this year is going to be you know it's going to be requiring Flex the patience on everybody's part I think everybody is committed everybody is eager to get back but there are still a lot of questions and and we really do appreciate your page yes definitely not sure since my daughter is going to press online grades and work and she's not going to get schedule so I just don't go well she will I mean you know we would have people pass available for incoming students at this point unfortunately there's been a delay with the Gia we started out saying everything is taking longer these days you know getting students on 2-hour system discharging student transcripts at the college's on everything's taking longer I see a question about whether students need to get a test it's not working I would say it's recommended is strongly recommended for all staff and you can be sure that the entire leadership team be tested before we come back myself included and they're also asked stop casting on a monthly basis again that's not mandated but I think if people are aware of their potential exposure hopefully people will take advantage of getting frequent test as thank you you're welcome from expression Jason Bailey Jason I'm Amazon I have a question why is there going to be like at school activities included Jason again we're just trying to make sure everybody gets into the building safely and solder classes that we do not want to lose the clubs in the extra stuff that we have Laura he has a good evening my son he's in marching band and symphonic band marching band is still path of Jesus school year because you know they got a practical for for marching I want to know that
