Fort Hamilton News and Information - March 12, 2021

Fort Students and Families,                             March 12, 2021

We are preparing for all blended staff and students to return to the building.  We will ensure our community's safety by following all DOE guidelines that include social distancing, masks, and the entry health screening with random temperature checks.  Here are some things to keep in mind for student return to in-person learning starting Wednesday, March 24th.

Reopening Highlights:

March 18 – All blended staff return to building per reopening of high schools for in-person learning.  Both blended and remote staff will engage students remotely per the current live/ asynchronous schedule.  Organization of classrooms to prepare for student return.

March 19Option to work remotely for teachers, paraprofessionals and counselors due to special schedule with PT Conferences. Periods 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 will meet for approximately 30 minutes each. 11a.m. Staff Meeting via Zoom. 12pm lunch. PT conferences to engage families in conversations about student progress from 1-3p.m.

March 22-23 – Instructional staff (teachers and paras) have the option to work remotely unless needed to help prepare classrooms and other spaces for students. All classes have LIVE virtual meetings on Monday and Tuesday.

March 24-25 – ALL blended staff report to building. Blended students attend per cohort assignment. Student cohorts will remain one day per week until we assess how many blended students return. We’ll return to testing days on Monday and Tuesday and organize asynchronous days by department across Wednesday Thursday, and Friday.

March 29 to April 2 – Spring Recess – NO SCHOOL

Please note that FHHS adheres to the DOE guidelines for family options to select blended or remote for their child.  If a student is Remote, they will remain remote.  Remote students will not be admitted to school, regardless of consent form for covid testing submitted after the deadline.  We must ensure social distancing and can only increase the in-person days once we assess returning students.  We will monitor attendance in-person and address any family requests to be blended later in April provided we have space and the DOE will process exceptions.
