Fort Hamilton High School A.C.E.S Civic Engagement Panel - November 17, 2021

On November 17th The A.C.E.S (Advocacy, Community, Equity, Service) Program welcomed Senator Andrew Gounardes, Co-Director of The Center for Family Life Julie Stein Brockway, and Fort Hamilton’s Own Social Studies Teacher Randy Kaminsky to discuss the impact getting involved in your own community can have on improving the lives of the people in your own neighborhood. The panelists discussed the power young people have in making change today and they answered questions from students about food insecurity, homelessness, and immigration issues that are impacting the residents of Bay Ridge, Sunset Park, and surrounding neighborhoods. They also shared how they began their journeys into civil engagement and ways students can get involved today on something they are passionate about themselves. Look forward to more events in the future from the ACES Program.  Thank you to the invited panelists, advisory teachers, and Ms. Houlihan for the continued support of events like this.
