ATTENTION:  THIS LETTER APPLIES TO INCOMING 9TH & 10TH GRADERS

June 2022

Dear Fort Hamiltonite:

Welcome!  As of September 8, 2022, you will be a Fort Hamilton High School student.  You met some of our staff during Welcome Night on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, but all of our staff are awaiting your arrival in September.  We want to help you be the very best you can be and will work to ensure you have access to all that Fort Hamilton offers.

To assist with your transition to Fort Hamilton High School, we are offering Fun at Fort, starting Monday, July, 25th through Thursday, August 4, 2022. This program is a two week Summer Enrichment Program for incoming 9th graders. Students will have four classes, 50 minutes each, starting at 8:45 am to 12:20 pm. The classes will focus on getting acclimated with our school, building relationships with peers and engaging in experimental learning. Space is limited, so please sign up by using the link to the Google form; https://tinyurl.com/Fun-at-Fort-Summer-2022

New Student Orientation will be conducted on Wednesday, August 31 and Thursday, September 1, 2022.  Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31 students whose last names begin with the letters A – K will report to Fort Hamilton High School’s auditorium.  At 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, students whose last names begin with the letters L – Z will report to the auditorium.  Student attendance is mandatory, and one parent is welcome to attend.  During new-student orientation, students will have an introduction to key staff members, tour the building, view video presentations and receive a lesson on “Getting Started in High School.”  Students will also receive a school folder and have an opportunity to obtain their Fort Hamilton High School photo identification card.  Photos for the ID card will be taken, but you may choose not to wait for the completed card, as it may take several hours. A jacket is advisable, as the auditorium is air-conditioned.  Additionally, we encourage all families to complete the online Family Income Inquiry Form before the start of the new school year.  You can apply starting July 2nd at myschoolapps.com (you will need your child’s OSIS # to complete the online meal form).

Metro cards will be available for pick up on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in our cafeteria. Also, on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 after 3:00 p.m., the Fall 2022 programs will be available on NYCSA. NYCSA is the DOE’s online information system which allows parents and students to access academic records and to complete important school forms.

The first day of school will be Thursday, September 8, 2022.  Arrival time will be determined by the session on a student’s program (Session 1 begins at 7:20am, Session 2 begins at 8:10am, and Session 3 begins at 9am).  You will receive a telephone call beginning the week of August 29, 2022, reminding you of the above information.
