The Joffrey Ballet School Partnership with Fort Hamilton High School
Celebrating 13 Years of Excellence!

The Joffrey Ballet School's partnership with Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, NYC, proudly celebrates its 13th year of excellence. This prestigious collaboration attracts talented dancers from all five boroughs of New York City, offering them a unique opportunity to train during the school day while receiving a comprehensive education in the Joffrey Ballet School’s diverse curriculum.

Led by Joffrey Ballet School Faculty Sabrina Jaafar, the program emphasizes Classical Ballet, Modern/Contemporary Dance, Improvisation, Choreography, Jazz, and Pointe, providing students with a well-rounded and dynamic dance education.

Our public high school magnet program is designed for dedicated dancers who wish to pursue rigorous pre-professional training without sacrificing the traditional high school experience. With intimate class sizes, students benefit from personalized attention, close mentorship, and numerous performing opportunities.

Participants have the chance to showcase their talents in two major annual dance productions, as well as at various city and out-of-town festivals. Students may also audition for The Joffrey Manhattan’s Nutcracker, in addition to performing in Fort Hamilton’s own Nutcracker production.

The program offers select scholarships for students to attend the Joffrey Ballet School’s Summer Intensive in Manhattan. Some students also choose to train at The Joffrey Manhattan in the evenings for additional enrichment. The Spring Dance Concert allows dancers to perform across diverse genres and collaborate with leading professional choreographers.

As the only NYC high school to attend the National High School Dance Festival annually, our students engage in masterclasses, perform on national stages, and audition for top college dance conservatories and summer intensives.

Students in the Joffrey Dance Academy who maintain qualifying grades may also participate in Fort Hamilton’s Honors, AP, and College Now courses, ensuring a balanced and robust academic experience. Our alumni have gone on to prestigious dance conservatories and university programs, with recent graduates already making their mark in the professional dance world.

Auditions are open to dancers from across New York City, and prior pointe experience is welcome but not required for acceptance into this esteemed pre-professional program.
