English Language Learners must meet all graduation requirements including passing the ELA examination.  ELLs who score below Commanding (formerly Proficient) on the NYSITELL or the NYSESLAT are entitled to Bilingual/ESL services until they score Commanding or score Expanding and pass the ELA Regents examination. Parents may exercise the option to withdraw their child from Bilingual programs, however the child must continue to receive ESL services. Parent Program Selection Forms must be completed and filed in the World Languages/ENL office.  Students may not withdraw from a mandated ENL program.  All ENL/NLA classes are aligned to the NYS Common Core Standards.
